Major site www.wprc.org/fetal.phtml

FINAL By WENDY SILVA

I believe this site to be a major site for fetal development. The site is designed by the westside pregnancy resource center. While surfing the web for fetal development I had come across many sites that refer back to this site. This site gives detailed descripiton of the developing embryo to fetus. It also provides colored pictures. For 30 years, this website provides a life-affirming support to both women and men who finds themselves in an unplanned pregnancy or hurting from previous abortion, or in need of sexual/ralational guidance. They are a non-profit, non-political, non-denominational organization funded entirely by privite donations and small grants. It is run solely on a small goup of staff and a handfull of volunteers. This center is the only kind in west Los Angeles and all services are free and confidential. They also provide many free services from home clinics to confidential counseling. Westside also has many links of articles and online resources about sex, pregnancy, adoption, abortion and the developing fetus, which I will disscus in this blog. there is also a hotline for anyone who is in need of counseling.
The first trimester During this stage the the sperm joins the egg in the fallopian tube and becomes fertile. The Once fetilization takes place the blastocyst burrows beneath the surface of the uterus where it will grow into a fetus. By week three the backbone, spinal column and nerous system are developing rapidly. Hormones are produced to stop the expecting mothers menstrul cycle. The heart begins to beat at 5 weeks and by the seventh week facial hair appears as well as muscle system development. The embryo is called a fetus by the end of the 8th week.
The second trimester This trimester is when the fetus muscles begin to develop and the mother can feel the kicking within her womb. Taste buds, eyebrows, and eyelashes are appearing around 15-16 weeks after conception. By 20 weeks the fetus now has fingernail and fingerprints. When having an ultrasound done during this stage one can see the sex organs of the fetus. The mothers voice can be recognized the fetus.
The third trimester In this semester the fetus begins breathing by inhaling the amnionic fluid into the developing lungs. By 38-40 weeks the baby is approximately seven to seven and a hald pounds and is ready for delivery.
